Biography

In 1999, after twenty-one years in the Midwest, I moved to the belly of the Beast, Washington, DC, in the hopes of changing something. So I ended up at the Cato Institute. Needless to say, the views expressed on this weblog in no way should be interpreted as reflecting the views of anybody else at Cato.

I've been a retail clerk, a busboy, a telemarketer, a collections agent, a collections manager, a waiter, a commercial real estate researcher, a waiter again, an Intern Coordinator, a Public Relations Manager, a Research Assistant in Defense and Foreign Policy Studies, and now a Foreign Policy Analyst, in that order.

I graduated from American University in International Studies (2001). My current research interests include foreign policy, particularly with regard to the Transnistrian conflict, Central Asia, the war on terror, and US diplomacy.

Interests

Russian literature, expressionist film, constructivist architecture and Soviet realist art, foreign languages. Also, I like listening to a variety of esoteric and experimental music.
